Sips
SIPS is a group project developed as part of a wider enterprise and UX brief, created by a team of six students including myself. The concept behind SIPS is a forward-thinking coffee brand designed to meet the needs of busy London commuters by offering fast, affordable, and accessible coffee through mobile carts and automated vending machines. Our goal was to rethink the traditional coffee shop model and replace it with a streamlined, user-friendly service that fits into commuters’ fast-paced routines. The brand also emphasises inclusivity and sustainability by offering a range of non-dairy milk options, recyclable packaging, and partnerships with suppliers such as Oatly.
As a group, we collaboratively developed a comprehensive enterprise plan that included a value proposition, business model canvas, competitor and market analysis, customer profiling, MVP rollout, and marketing strategies. We launched the concept with a minimum viable product: a mobile coffee cart, which was tested in a real-world environment near a train station. Feedback from this user testing phase gave us valuable insight into customer habits and preferences, helping us refine our offering and inform the design of our future automated machines.
Alongside the business plan, we designed a functional app prototype using Figma to support the user journey. Offering features like drink pre-ordering, a loyalty scheme, and real-time machine location updates. The app design focused on simplicity and speed, with a clean interface and a friendly, encouraging tone of voice to match the brand’s approachable identity. This digital product, combined with the physical coffee service, forms an integrated experience that responds to modern commuting behaviours and lifestyle preferences.
This project allowed me to explore multiple aspects of brand development, including UX/UI design, business strategy, marketing planning, and user research. It was a highly collaborative experience that demonstrated how thoughtful design and enterprise thinking can be used to create innovative, socially conscious solutions in a competitive market.
